The approach to managing urban green infrastructure (UGI) is based on shifting the perception of parks and gardens from isolated systems to a functional network that promotes natural processes and dynamics enhanced by biodiversity. These actions aim to comprehensively improve the ecosystemic values of green areas.

To ensure connectivity of the urban and peri-urban green system and increase biodiversity, the following guidelines are followed:

  • Naturalizing green areas and landscaped spaces in Fuengirola.
  • Enhancing ecosystem services provided by parks, promoting their measurement and improvement throughout the contract using reliable and automated systems.
  • Developing holistic management that considers health, well-being, quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and biodiversity in green spaces. The goal is to make nature more present in urban life, becoming a more functional element, both economically and ecologically.
