Landscape improvements for the Llobregat River area in the province of Barcelona

The green spaces open to the public on the banks of the Llobregat River needed to be landscaped to make sure the public made the most of them, and to create vegetable garden allotments and attract experimental agriculture.  

This project focused on where the river runs through the towns of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí and Santa Coloma de Cervelló.  

The work included widening the roadside pedestrian path running through the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park, refurbishing the path along the banks of Can Soler and recovering the green spaces between the AVE railway tracks and the path along the right bank of the Llobregat River.  

The overall project is split into three phases:

- Protection and signage 
- Lighting  
- Street furniture and equipment 
- Irrigation and drainage networks 
- Gardening 

The first phase concentrated on recovering the social and environmental aspect of the Llobregat River path through Sant Vicenç dels Horts.  

Works included building a riverside park and setting up a new leisure and recreation area along with two other areas: the path along the right bank of the Torrelles River under the AVE and A-2 infrastructure and improving the path on the right bank of the Llobregat River where it meets the banks of the Cervelló River.
