Sorigué shares its asphalt innovation at the Jornadas de Firmes 2026 in Gijón

May 28, 2026

The Asphalts team delivered two individual presentations and represented the company at a panel discussion on pavement reuse. Through its participation, the business group reaffirms its commitment to sustainability in the development and maintenance of road infrastructure.

Sorigué shared its experience and technical expertise through presentations linked to innovation and sustainability in road infrastructure at the Jornadas de Firmes 2026, organised by the Spanish Technical Road Association (ATC) and promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Government of Spain.

Mar Subarroca, Laboratory and R&D&I Manager, took part in the session “Pavement reuse in light of new regulatory and environmental frameworks” with the presentation “The management of milled material – GT-2”, focusing on the treatment and use of milled material for its reuse in more sustainable pavements.

In addition, she participated in a panel discussion moderated by José Potti, President of Asefma, to discuss pavement reuse, alongside Raquel Pérez, representative of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge; Paula Pastor, from the Directorate-General for Roads; María Elena Hidalgo, from Eiffage; Nuria Uguet, from Probisa, and María González, from Moeve.

Furthermore, Marc Juárez, R&D&I Projects Technician, delivered the presentation “Advanced viscoelastic characterisation of the rheological behaviour of rejuvenated bitumens”, during the free communications session, in which he addressed the improved behaviour of aged bitumens through the use of rejuvenators and their evaluation for application in road surfaces.

Innovation in road infrastructure

A delegation of 9 professionals from the Sorigué Asphalts team took part in the Jornadas de Firmes 2026, held in Gijón from 25 to 27 May.

The event brought together public authorities, companies, professionals and research centres to analyse the main challenges currently facing road surfaces , addressing aspects related to design, execution, quality control, maintenance and innovation in building materials and techniques.
This edition also featured leading companies in the sector, such as Eiffage, Probisa, Repsol, Pavasal, Tecnofirmes, Moeve, Becsa and Alvac, consolidating the conference as one of the main forums for technical exchange and specialised knowledge in the field of road infrastructure.

The conference focused on incorporating new technical solutions and the sector’s adaptation to growing regulatory and environmental demands.

Applied research for business

Sorigué has a Research Laboratory created in 2010 at the La Plana del Corb Industrial Complex in Balaguer (Lleida), bringing together a specialised technical team dedicated to the development of new products, quality control and the continuous improvement of materials

This laboratory has produced solutions such as Rugofir, an ultra-thin asphalt mixture system for pavement rehabilitation with a lower economic and environmental impact; Neoballast, a high-performance, highly durable eco-friendly ballast; and Addplast, a bituminous mixture incorporating polymers from recycled plastics, contributing to the circular economy.

Moreover, the Asphalts team has executed key projects across much of Spain, from the asphalting of the MotorLand Aragón circuit to the paving of the La Boqueria market in Barcelona, which used Firflex, a high-strength, proprietary resin with anti-slip and fuel-resistant properties. Also noteworthy is the recent renewal of the pavement in Barcelona’s Rovira tunnel using Rugofir, a system developed by Sorigué that enables a minimum-thickness wearing course.
