Sorigué Advances in the Construction of the New Bus-HOV Lane for Seville

July 21, 2025

The installation of two beams, each weighing more than 200 tons, marks a major milestone in the execution of this project, which is key to sustainable mobility in the region.

The new bus-HOV lane in Seville has reached 50% completion with the lifting of the viaduct beams over the A-8058 motorway. In an institutional event presided over by the Regional Minister of Development, Territorial Articulation, and Housing, Rocío Díaz, Sorigué’s Southern Infrastructure Division presented the progress on this crucial project for the province.

Traffic decongestion

The new beams measure 39.3 meters in length and weigh over 200 tons each, requiring the use of high-capacity cranes for their placement.

With a total length of 3.6 kilometres, the platform runs along the Mairena-San Juan road (A-8057) from the PISA park roundabout down to the Coria motorway (A-8058), with no intermediate accesses or stops along the entire route.

Once completed, this bus-HOV lane will help speed up mobility for more than 4,300 collective transport vehicles, including regular bus lines serving nearby towns such as Mairena del Aljarafe, Almensilla, and Palomares del Río.

The project has an investment of nearly 15 million euros, co-financed with European ’Next Generation’ funds, and is part of a broader plan to improve traffic flow in the Seville metropolitan area.

The project also includes widening the left lane of the A-8057 and building a 120-meter-long viaduct over the A-8058. Other significant works include retaining walls, improvements to accesses, and upgrades to signage.

Major regional impact projects

This project is being coordinated by Sorigué’s Southern Infrastructure Division, which is leading major initiatives across the region, such as the expansion of Córdoba’s North Ring Road and the construction of the outpatient unit for the maternity and pediatrics area at Córdoba University Hospital.

This is in addition to the recent handover of the site development for the future Army Logistics Base (BLET) in Córdoba.

Sorigué has a well-established presence in Andalusia, with offices in Seville, Granada, and Málaga. For over five decades, the company has built residential buildings, sports centres, hospitals, and educational facilities, as well as hydraulic infrastructure and photovoltaic installations.

Currently, it is also responsible for preserving the forests of the Alhambra and Generalife Monumental Complex in Granada and maintaining the facilities of Seville’s City of Justice.

In addition, with the acquisition of 50% of the asphalt company Bitum, Sorigué has strengthened its local capabilities in road paving and asphalting.
