Sorigué Completes Site Development for the New Spanish Army Logistics Base

July 18, 2025

In an official ceremony attended by civilian and military authorities, the first phase of the large-scale technological complex located in the province of Córdoba was officially completed.

The 85 hectares allocated for the new Logistics Base of the Spanish Army (BLET) in the La Rinconada industrial estate, Córdoba, now feature fully developed land and a fenced perimeter, allowing the building construction phase of the project to begin.

The handover ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Defence, Amparo Valcarce; the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles; the Sub-delegate of the Central Government in Córdoba, Ana López; and the Director General of Infrastructure, Lieutenant General Luis Cebrián, among other civilian and military authorities.

Representatives from Sorigué’s Southern Infrastructure Division presented the delegation with details of the works, which included roads, sanitation installations, electricity and lighting systems, an irrigation network, and pre-installations for security and telecommunications, among others. The project was carried out by the joint venture (UTE) formed by Sorigué and Sepisur XXI and was executed between December 2023 and March 2025.

The site development involved moving 500,000 cubic meters of earth – equivalent to about ten football pitches. The development includes eight kilometres of water supply pipes, 200 kilometres of lighting and telecommunications networks, a four-kilometre security perimeter reinforced with double fencing, 30,000 square meters of paving, and the planting of hundreds of trees to provide shade once the complex becomes operational.

By the end of this year, the construction contract for the 34 buildings that make up the BLET will be awarded. These will form a major logistics, technological, and research hub focused on the defence industry. The Ministry of Defence’s goal is for the new campus to be fully operational by 2029.

Presence in Andalusia

With more than 50 years of presence in Andalusia, Sorigué has led major projects such as the photovoltaic self-consumption installation at Sevilla’s La Cartuja Stadium, the rehabilitation of the Sifón Bridge in Huelva, and the comprehensive maintenance of the Alhambra forests – a contract that remains active.

Specifically in the province of Córdoba, Sorigué is currently building the outpatient consultation unit for the maternal and child area of the University Hospital and will soon begin work on the first phase of Córdoba’s Northern Ring Road through a joint venture formed by Acsa and Azvi.

This project continues the previous expansion of the same Northern Ring Road, also carried out by Sorigué, which earned the award for “Best Local Engineering Project in Andalusia” from the governing board of the Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla branch of the College of Civil Engineers (CICCP).
