Sorigué Adds a Third Facility to the Catalan Association of Construction and Demolition Waste Managers

November 19, 2025

Committed to the life cycle of aggregates and the recovery of construction waste, Sorigué prioritises recycling as a way to reduce waste volumes, extend the useful life of materials, and lower the consumption of natural resources.

Sorigué now has three construction waste recovery centres affiliated with the Catalan Association of Construction and Demolition Waste Managers (GRCD), a key organisation that works to unify criteria before public authorities and defend the sector’s demands and interests.

These centres are registered in the Catalan Waste Agency’s Register of Construction Waste Managers. In addition to this essential requirement for Association membership, Sorigué provides CE marking and an Environmental Product Declaration for its entire production of recycled aggregates.

For several years now, the La Plana del Corb industrial complex in Balaguer, Lleida, and the Botarell recovery centre in Tarragona have had dedicated spaces for waste recovery affiliated with the Association. The most recent addition is the facility in Sant Andreu de la Barca, Barcelona, where the business group also operates its factory for precast concrete paving elements.
At the Sant Andreu de la Barca plant, the company Àrids Catalunya processes construction waste to produce high-quality recycled aggregates.

The waste mainly comes from clients carrying out utility trenching around the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, as well as from some unique projects within the Catalan capital itself. It operates as a closed-loop cycle: material excavated from trenches is processed using specialised crushing and screening equipment, and once high-quality aggregates are produced, they can be reintroduced directly back into the same construction project.

For a circular economy

At the La Plana del Corb industrial complex, Sorigué produces washed natural aggregates ideal for manufacturing concrete, as well as washed crushed aggregates particularly used in asphalt mixes and surface treatments. In the same location, Sorigué operates asphalt mixing plants, large-scale precast concrete factories, the Calcel products factory, and its own research laboratory.

Meanwhile, in the municipality of Botarell, Tarragona, the group has a storage and recovery centre for recovered construction waste – including concrete, bricks, bituminous mixes, and minerals – which are processed to generate a wide range of recycled aggregates suitable for various applications. At the Sant Andreu de la Barca plant, Sorigué incorporates recycled aggregates into the production of small-format precast concrete elements such as slabs, steps, kerbs, cobbles, and other products for public roads and infrastructure.

Committed to the life cycle of aggregates and the recovery of construction waste, Sorigué promotes recycling as a process that reduces waste volumes, extends material lifespan, and decreases the use of natural resources.

Sorigué’s membership in the Catalan Association of Construction and Demolition Waste Managers (GRCD) strengthens its dedication to advancing the circular economy in construction – a sector where the company brings more than 70 years of experience.
