Sorigué presents its latest innovation projects at international congresses in the sector

July 11, 2023

The business group presented two of its research projects in the field of the water cycle at the 13th AEDyR Congress and the 6th International Conference on Ecotechnologies.

Last June, Sorigué’s innovation department took part in the 13th AEDyR Congress and the 6th International Conference on Ecotechnologies to share its knowledge and experience as an innovative company in the field of water and the circular economy through some of the projects it is currently carrying out.

Sorigué’s participation in both congresses is an opportunity to establish partnerships and showcase the company’s innovation capabilities, as well as its commitment to more sustainable production models.

13th AEDyR Congress

It presented its water innovation at the 13th Spanish Desalination and Reuse Association (Asociación Española de Desalación y Reutilización; AEDyR) International Congress on 14 June. The congress, which was held in Granada under the title “Looking to the future”, brought together experts to present the latest research and developments in desalination, water reuse and water treatment.

Teresa de la Torre, Sorigué’s R&D&I Project Manager, gave a presentation as part of the technical sessions of the congress, where she explained the results and experiences of the pilot plant operated by Sorigué at the WWTP in La Llagosta, Barcelona.

This facility has been designed to test the effectiveness of different innovative technologies that improve the treatment of organic pollutants in wastewater, as part of the European Water Mining project, carried out jointly by Sorigué’s innovation department and water engineering business line.
In addition to testing innovative technologies, the pilot plant has a value sensitive design (VSD) approach and therefore takes the needs of different stakeholders into account.

6th International Conference on Ecotechnologies

The 6th International Conference on Ecotechnologies for Wastewater Treatment, organised annually by the International Water Association, was held in Girona from 26 to 29 June. This event showcased the latest technologies in wastewater treatment, reuse and recovery with a focus on knowledge transfer.

In this context, Sorigué’s innovation department presented two of the research projects linked to wastewater management that provide innovative technological solutions with a focus on environmental sustainability.

Firstly, it presented the European Water Mining research project, funded by the European Commission within the H2020 programme (GA 869474), which evaluates four new technologies to improve the circularity of wastewater treatment processes.

It also presented the Biodaph2O project, coordinated by the University of Girona and financed by the European Commission’s LIFE programme (LIFE21-ENV-ES-BIODAPH2O), which consists of water treatment based on natural solutions.
