Sorigué and Dam take over the management of the Santa Coloma de Farners WWTP in Girona

July 4, 2023

The new contract for the management of this facility of the Catalan Water Agency came into force on 1 July. The plant serves a population equivalent of more than 14,500 inhabitants and treats a flow of more than 4,400 m³/day.

Sorigué has been awarded the contract for the management, operation and operation and maintenance service of the Santa Coloma de Farners WWTP (Girona), following the tender process carried out by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).

In a joint venture with the DAM Group, it will operate these facilities, which provide service to a population equivalent of over 14,500 inhabitants and treat a flow of more than 4,400 m³/day.

The project consists of the management of a wastewater treatment plant with an activated biological sludge treatment system that removes nutrients, nitrogen and phosphorous, and a network of pipes that collects the water from Santa Coloma de Farners and its residential area. The facility also has four pumping stations (WWPS), which will be automated and will communicate with the WWTP’s SCADA data programme.

The contract, which came into force on 1 July, has a maximum duration of 4 years and includes a series of actions to optimise the energy efficiency of the facilities and improve process control.

This contract enables Sorigué and the DAM Group to continue to consolidate their presence in Catalonia. Both DAM and Sorigué have decades of experience in the water cycle, proven by their management of multiple hydraulic installations throughout Spain.
