Sorigué maintains the facilities of the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona Consortium

January 23, 2026

From the Museu Blau in the Fòrum to the Botanical Garden in Montjuïc, Sorigué deploys a specialised facility maintenance team to guarantee the good condition of the buildings, optimise energy resources and preserve visitor safety.

Sorigué is responsible for maintaining the facilities of the spaces that make up the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona Consortium (CMCNB), distributed across key points in the city such as the Ciutadella Park, Montjuïc mountain and the Fòrum area.

The first is home to the Martorell Exhibition Centre, the Greenhouse and the Castle of the Three Dragons; Montjuïc houses the Botanical Garden and the Historical Botanical Garden; and the Fòrum is the site of the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona, better known as the Museu Blau.

The Consortium closed 2024 with a record of over 370,000 visitors across all its venues.

Notable events include the 55,000 people who visited the ‘Invisible Animals’ exhibition at the Museu Blau, the more than 40,000 who attended the ‘Nature or Culture’ exhibition at the Martorell Centre and the 9,000 who took part in the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Botanical Garden.

Operability and safety

As an expert in maintaining facilities with high footfall, Sorigué guarantees the operability of climate control, electricity, plumbing, fire protection and telecommunications systems, as well as minor civil works, among others.

These actions aim to preserve the condition of the buildings, ensure a safe environment and optimise their energy performance through tools such as CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) software, which helps to control water and electricity consumption.

A specialised team is in charge of monitoring all CMCNB facilities, coordinating with external suppliers and providing assistance in activities requiring technical support, such as exhibitions, workshops or conferences, thereby ensuring minimal disruption to the public.

Through its company Axer, Sorigué brings extensive experience in the adaptation and maintenance of public and private facilities, which include social housing in the province of Lleida, the Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital in Tarragona and the University of Lleida in Catalonia.
