Ana Vallés: “Architecture is able to anticipate the future, to react to changes, and to build answers”

June 30, 2016

The President of Sorigué, Ana Vallés, opened the second day of the Fourth International Congress on Architecture and Society, presenting a session on “Aesthetics of Energy”, which also included presenters Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewicz.

Vallés’s participation in this Congress, one of the most important architectural forums in the world, was as sponsor of the Architecture and Society Foundation that organized the event. Other professionals from Sorigué who work in this area were also in attendance.

During her presentation, Vallés called on the audience to reflect and take action given the drastic transformation the planet, society, and architecture itself are all undergoing. The expected increase in life expectancy, the shift in the age pyramid, the concentration of global population in megacities, the energy revolution, and the digital revolution, as well as unique perspectives offered by new generations, are all contributing to the creation of a new world, a world which architects must respond to.

Speaking to the more than 500 architectural professionals in attendance, the President of Sorigué indicated that “the architectural industry has much to contribute, because as architects, you have the ability to anticipate the future, to imagine other realities and construct those realities, and to react to changes, together with the industry to which I belong, that of construction, engineering, and services for people”.

During the session, titled “Aesthetics of Energy”, Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewitckz spoke of how they approach in their projects the demands of our changing climate, applying both technical solutions and aesthetic criteria.
