Sorigué signs an agreement with the IRTA to support new innovation projects

The CEO of Sorigué, Luis Villena, and the Director General of the Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA), Josep M. Monfort, have signed a cooperation framework agreement for the development of research, transfer, and dissemination projects in areas of interest for both entities. Through this agreement, Sorigué strengthens its commitments to innovation as a driver of growth and a tool to anticipate the future needs and demands of the industries in which it acts.

The purpose of this agreement is to establish the foundation for joint action to develop new projects in the agricultural/food and water sectors, as well as other areas relating to its activities. Through this framework, a network of joint R&D strategies will be created, to include the collaborative participation of experts and researchers from Sorigué and IRTA. This agreement includes training activities and actions aimed at sharing knowledge and know-how.

The ceremony for the signing of the agreement, which took place at the headquarters of CLD, a Sorigué Group company, included attendance of the President of Sorigué, Ana Vallés, the CEO of Sorigué, Luis Villena, the Director General of the IRTA, Josep Maria Monfort, and the Director of Innovation and Transfer at the IRTA, Rosa Cubel.

Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA)

The Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA) is a public company of the Catalan government which focuses on scientific research and technology transfer in the areas of agriculture and the agricultural/food industry.  Its functions include, among others, the provision of research services and the development and transfer of technology in the agricultural/food sector, in collaboration with both the public and private sectors. Its objective is to contribute to the modernization, competitiveness, and development of this industry, and in general, to the progress of society as a whole.

In this area, the business group is conducting various innovation projects in collaboration with other companies and organizations. One such project, NEOBALLAST (part of the HORIZON 2020 Program of the European Commission), was recently presented by Sorigué in collaboration with the companies Comsa and Verdés. In October, the PROYECTOPIEZA Project was also announced, this one in collaboration with the prestigious architect Francisco Mangado.

Sorigué has even established an Innovation Advisory Council, comprised of renowned experts on innovation in the business, scientific, and institutional communities: Nuria Sebastián, Vice President of the European Research Council (ERC); Rolf Tarrach, President of the European Association of Universities; Lluís Torner, Director of the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO); and Marcos Urarte, Visiting Progress at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This Council is presided over by Ana Vallés, President of Sorigué.
