Sorigué holds its first course on drinking water and supply networks

April 26, 2021

The Technology team, responsible for the maintenance contract for Barcelona's drinking water network, has carried out the first edition of a course intended for its operating team, which brings together Sorigué's knowledge and experience in the water cycle.

During the month of March, the Technology team of the Catalonia office organised the first course on drinking water and supply networks, intended for the operating personnel of the maintenance contract for the drinking water network in Barcelona, which the company manages for Aigües de Barcelona.

Eight workers from this service took part in its first edition, which lasted a week and a half, most of them responsible for its maintenance team. Sorigué has been maintaining the water network since 1959 and currently covers 23 municipalities in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, serving a population of more than 3 million people.

This training was carried out entirely by Sorigué's Hydraulic Services teams. The students were taught by 23 teachers, all of them professionals staff of the business group. The aim is to transfer Sorigué's extensive knowledge in the maintenance of hydraulic networks and the water cycle in a systematised and formal way to its operating teams

During the week and a half of training, the students undertook theory and practical classes on various aspects of water network maintenance, such as the installation of new pipes, sewer renovation, connecting the network to new buildings and facilities, and trenching, among other aspects.

"This training represents a historic milestone for our business group. This group of eight operators are the first, but our aim is to continue with these unique training courses that reflect our extensive knowledge of the water cycle," stated Enric Forns, director of water contracts in Catalonia.

"We are very satisfied with the results of this first experience. For our team, it represents a change in our working methodology. The training also includes all the aspects that we have incorporated in digital transformation and sustainability measures, in accordance with current regulations," added Alex Palomino, water contracts delegate for the Besòs area of Barcelona.
