Sorigué delivers the first phase of the La Liga and NBA sports complex

October 6, 2022

An educational centre, two football pitches and a residential complex make up the first part of this residential, educational and sports project, the first of its kind in Europe.

Sorigué delivered the first of three construction phases for the Official La Liga and NBA Centre, a sports complex for both leagues to pursue their top-level projects.

Inspired by Olympic villages and heavily focused on education, these facilities are constructed on a 42,000 square metre plot of land located in Villaviciosa de Odón, outside of Madrid.

The 5-block residence, the two football pitches, the school and the adjoining residential estate make up this first phase. Sorigué is also making headway on the construction of the sports complex to NBA specifications, and the pool and gymnasium.

This project, the first of its kind in Europe in terms and size and scope, was pitched by T3N Sport and Investment and ColivINN as a platform for elite sports teams to reach their goals and develop new training models in line with exacting international standards.

Educational and Residential Centre

To build the new “TSC” educational and sports centre, Sorigué had to refurbish the existing Virgen del Bosque school made up of seven interconnected buildings.

In addition, it constructed two new detached buildings for educational and sports activities.

The school grounds can be entered from various areas in the complex in a campus style, and feature a two-story building for teaching Compulsory Secondary Education and sixth form. In addition to classrooms, labs and workshop areas were designed to meet educational requirements.

The new infrastructure includes residences to accommodate up to 450 students from over 77 countries. This is the first European co-living space specifically for athletes where students will live together in an educationally rich environment and have open rooms with views, furniture, a private bathroom and a study area.

The existing sports grounds were transformed into two football pitches: one natural grass La Liga regulation-sized pitch for matches and another artificial turf pitch for training. Both pitches underwent works to install irrigation and drainage systems, and football goals, handrails, benches and ball stop netting were put in place.

NBA Regulation Courts

One of the buildings next to the construction site is planned to have a sports complex built to NBA specifications and in line with the Sports and Recreational Facility (NIDE) standards set by the Spanish National Sports Council.

This facility will be used for professional basketball along with other sports such as handball, badminton, volleyball, and many more.

Under this project there are also plans for building a high performance gym featuring locker rooms, physiotherapy and nursing staff rooms, storage facilities and a cafeteria.

Lastly, on the highest part of the plot of land, there are plans for a 20x12 metre outdoor swimming pool with a building for washrooms, water treatment facilities, fencing, footbaths and showers, in compliance with Community of Madrid standards.
