DAM and Sorigué consolidate their positions in Catalonia with new awards

January 10, 2023

The DAM and Sorigué business groups have been managing the Montornès del Vallès WWTP in a joint venture since 1 January and continue to operate the Anoia Nord purification systems. These water treatment systems located in the province of Barcelona supply a population of more than 300,000 people.

The DAM and Sorigué business groups are responsible for the contracts for the management, operation and maintenance service of the Montornès del Vallès WWTP and the Anoia Nord wastewater treatment systems following the tender launched by the Besòs-Tordera Consortium and the Catalan Water Agency, respectively.

The companies have been operating these water treatment systems located in the province of Barcelona which supply a population of more than 300,000 inhabitants in a joint venture since 1 January.

These new ventures will allow both business groups to grow and establish themselves as leaders in the field of wastewater treatment and purification in Catalonia. Both DAM and Sorigué have decades of experience in the water cycle, proven by their management of multiple hydraulic installations throughout Spain.

The Montornès del Vallès WWTP

The Montornès del Vallès WWTP contract, which has a duration of two years with the possibility of extension for a further two years, enables the operation of a WWTP that treats an average flow of 28,000 m³/day and serves a population of 206,000 inhabitants

The plant, located in the municipality of Montornès del Vallès, treats wastewater from the towns of Montornès del Vallès, Parets del Vallès, Vilanova del Vallès, Montmeló, Lliçà de Vall, Lliçà d’Amunt, Vallromanes and part of Granollers and Mollet, with a network of pipes measuring approximately 64 km long.

“Among the improvements to be made are the technical audit and BIM modelling of the WWTP and WWPS, as well as the installation of a new photovoltaic plant”, said the DAM group.
The Anoia Nord sanitation systems

The new Anoia Nord treatment system management contract also came into force on 1 January. It involves the management of the plants at Vallbona d’Anoia, Carme, Hostalets de Pierola, Masquefa, Piera and Castellolí.

For a period of five years, the joint venture between DAM and Sorigué will continue to manage 6 WWTPs, which serve a population of around 100,000 inhabitants and treat an annual flow of approximately 5,781,965 m³. In addition, a series of actions will be carried out during the operation of the treatment systems to improve the network of pipes and pumping systems, and thus avoid discharges into the natural environment.
