Sorigué at the 13th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennale

July 20, 2016

The Director of Technology and Services at Sorigué, Manuel Vélez, and the Director of Construction and Engineering, Manuel Delgado, as well as representatives from the company’s offices in Andalusia, were in attendance at the Biennale’s opening event, which showcases the projects awarded by the 13th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennale (BEAU), to demonstrate Sorigué’s support for Spanish architecture.

The venue selected for the award ceremony was the Palace of Charles V in Granada, a historic building for which the Landscaping and Environment Area of Sorigué provides landscaping and preservation services.

The 13th BEAU celebrated outstanding students and young talent in architecture, as well as renowned figures in the field: Pachi Mangado, the coordinator of the Biennale, and the co-chairs of the event, Juan Domingo Santos, Carmen Moreno Álvarez, and Begoña Díaz-Urgorri. Also participating were: Francisco Cuenca, Mayor of Granada; Jordi Ludevid, President of the CSCAE; Reynaldo Fernández, Director of the Patronato de la Alhambra de Granada; Francisco Javier Martín, Deputy Director of Architecture and Construction of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport; and Javier Navarro, President of the Fundación Arquia.

The Exposition

Under the title “Alternatives”, the works presented included all projects awarded by the 13th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennale (BEAU) in the categories of Architectural Works and Actions; Research and Dissemination; and Graduation Projects of architecture students.

These projects all offer ingenious and innovative urban solutions with limited resources, offering contributions that enhance their respective urban and natural environments with proposals that consider the problems present and resources available, capable of becoming leading examples of a context and testimonials of their time.

The exposition can be seen through October 12 in Granada, and later it will travel to New York and to other cities in Spain and abroad.
