Vialex certifies the registration of its carbon footprint

April 29, 2022

This is the first time that a company in the Sorigué Group’s Materials area has received the ‘Calculo, Reduzco, Compenso’ seal, awarded by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

Vialex, the Sorigué Group company specialising in construction and materials in Aragon, has received the ‘Calculo, Reduzco, Compenso’ seal accrediting the registration of its carbon footprint and its commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. This recognition includes scopes 1 + 2. The first refers to direct emissions produced by the burning of fuels, and the second relates to indirect emissions generated by electricity consumed and purchased by the emitter.

The certification, awarded by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, through the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC), allows the identification of the amount of carbon dioxide generated by an organisation and comparison with previous years to verify its gradual reduction. Vialex has validated the level of gases generated in 2020 and their reduction compared to the previous period, covering the three years prior to registration. With the official certification, renewable every year, the objective of Sorigué’s company in Aragon is to continue reducing and registering its carbon footprint.

Knowing the carbon footprint associated with productive activities is the starting point in the fight against climate change. Vialex embarked on this journey in the area of materials, obtaining a recognised seal to endorse the efforts made by the organisation.

It is the first time an activity in the materials area has received this seal, already held by other Sorigué companies such as Ambitec, which specialises in green infrastructure and landscaping. As a result, Sorigué affirms its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and expands its efforts to mitigate climate change at the national level. With 80% of the business certified to different environmental management standards, the group continues to innovate in waste reduction systems, renewable energy techniques and increasingly sustainable processes.
