Sorigué has improved the accessibility and comfort of the hospitalisation area of the Internal Medicine department at the Marina Baixa Hospital in Alicante. The works were carried out between the months of July and November of this year, affecting citizen care as little as possible. The contract was awarded by the Marina Baixa Health Department, attached to the Consellería de Sanitat of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The Marina Baixa Hospital, located in the town of Villajoyosa, Alicante, provides specialised care in more than twenty areas. Specifically, in the Internal Medicine department, 17 rooms are dedicated to hospitalisation with a capacity of 34 beds.

With Sorigué’s intervention, this number of beds has been maintained and the well-being of healthcare staff and patients has been substantially improved through works to widen doors, as well as through improvements in energy efficiency, operational effectiveness and environmental quality management of the central area of the third floor of the hospital. Works had already been undertaken in 2023 in the left corridor and, with this second phase, Marina Baixa continues to modernise its facilities.

Greater space and thermal comfort

Sorigué has intervened in an area of 649.88 m² and among the works carried out are the demolition of partition walls, suspended ceilings, interior and exterior carpentry, the execution of dry partitioning in space compartmentalisation and the installation of vinyl flooring and polycarbonate wall coverings in corridors and rooms.

 

New air conditioning and ventilation systems have also been installed, along with medical gas supply, electrical, voice and data networks, and an interconnection circuit with the rest of the hospital’s facilities, including the BMS for building automation tasks.

Experience in healthcare facilities

This project adds to Sorigué’s extensive experience in healthcare facilities. Last year, it completed the construction of the new emergency unit of the Hospital of Granollers, Barcelona, for the Servei Català de la Salut (CatSalut). In addition, the Management of the Aragonese Health Service has entrusted Sorigué with the construction of the new hospital in the municipality of Alcañiz, Teruel. The healthcare centre covers a surface area of 136,123 m² and is set to become the reference facility for 85 municipalities.

In Córdoba, Sorigué has built the outpatient consultation unit of the maternal and child area of the University Hospital with 78 new consultation rooms and, in Catalonia, the company is responsible for the construction of the new care building of the Sant Rafael Hospital in Barcelona with a surface area of 8,000 m² and a capacity for 120 beds.
