Sorigué presents its sustainable solutions at the National Congress of Municipal Engineering 2024

November 22, 2024

The company showcases its experience with the use of electric machinery in the refurbishment of the Jardines de las Tres Chimeneas in Barcelona.

Sorigué has participated in the National Congress of Municipal Engineering – CIM 2024, held on 21 November at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona. The event, organised by the Foundation Institute of Construction Technology of Catalonia – ITeC, analysed the future urban challenges of municipal technicians in terms of sustainability, digitalisation and industrialised construction.

In this edition, through its Materials and Urban Spaces areas, it presented its different sustainable services and products for cities.

First project with electric machinery

With the presentation “Jardins de les Tres Xemeneies del Poble Sec: refurbishment carried out with 100% electric machinery”, Sorigué explained the details of this pioneering project in the use of rechargeable equipment and vehicles in a public contract. For the Barcelona City Council, this was the first time that a sustainable mobility initiative was implemented in a municipal project with the aim of measuring energy consumption, gas emissions, noise and thermal impact to compare it with conventional diesel machinery.

The supplier company of the electric machinery, Home Rentals; the developer, Bimba; and the integral energy solutions service, Socotec, have also been part of the project.

Commitment to sustainability

Sorigué’s presentation at CIM was part of the Sustainability block, in which there was also discussion on sustainable paving in urban roads and regenerative urban planning as a city model. Sorigué has participated on several occasions in the National Congress of Municipal Engineering.

Throughout its 70 years, the group has made sustainability a cross-cutting axis across all its business areas. Examples of this commitment include the use of rechargeable electric vehicles for the provision of services to cities, the implementation of circular economy processes in wastewater treatment and the application of efficient asphalts in the maintenance of roads and public spaces.
