Sorigué Improves Road Safety and Traffic Conditions on the A-6 Motorway

December 5, 2025

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded Sorigué the contract for pavement repairs on the A-6 motorway as it passes through Ávila, in the province of Castilla y León.

Sorigué has started rehabilitation work on the A-6 motorway in the Adanero–Arévalo section in Ávila, in the Castile and León province.

The project involves addressing pavement issues on both carriageways over a length of 11.5 km to enhance safety and improve driving conditions.

This contract was awarded by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility through the Directorate General of Roads (DGC) and is scheduled for completion over a 30-month period.

Work began in October 2025 with the remodelling of three median crossings and the construction of a new one. This will allow for alternating traffic diversions on both carriageways during the structural pavement rehabilitation. This phase includes milling 3,500,000 m²-cm and laying 80,000 tonnes of hot bituminous mix.

Subsequently, surface rehabilitation of both carriageways will be carried out by laying 18,000 tonnes of a 3 cm wearing course, of which nearly 4,700 tonnes will consist of an experimental mix.

The works specifically affect the A-6 Madrid–A Coruña motorway, which connects Madrid with the capitals of Northwestern Spain.

In Castile and León

Through its Infrastructures and Materials division, Sorigué carries out construction and comprehensive maintenance of roads and infrastructure across nearly the entire country. It also produces materials for the sector, including aggregates, precast elements, concrete, and asphalt mixes.

In the Castile and León region specifically, Sorigué is currently executing the expansion works on the AV-915 road, which connects Sotillo de la Adrada in Ávila with the province of Toledo. These works will continue over the next two years and will bring substantial improvements to mobility and connectivity with the neighbouring Castile-La Mancha region.
