Sorigué to improve the sanitation network in Cañadas de San Pedro, Murcia

March 17, 2025

The new pipe system, spanning over 4 kilometres, will connect to the future wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and includes two pumping stations at the highest elevations and a total of 118 manholes.

Sorigué will be responsible for completing the sanitation network in Cañadas de San Pedro, Murcia, a project that will connect to existing networks and the future sanitation pipes and WWTP.

Cañadas de San Pedro is the second-largest district in the municipality of Murcia in terms of territory, with the highest elevation in the region, the Sierra de Columbares, whose highest peak reaches 646 meters. Due to these topographic characteristics, the project includes two pumping stations to address the highest elevation points.

The new 4,160-metre-long network consists of a series of reinforced concrete pipes with diameters of 300 and 400 mm and a total of 118 manholes.

The project, with a 14-month completion timeline, includes the construction of concrete chambers at the pumping stations (WWPS), the restoration of affected services, and the repaving of existing roads and pathways.

The group is a leader in managing hydraulic infrastructures, with over 50 facilities in operation. Its expertise in the water cycle includes processes such as water collection, purification, and high-level distribution, as well as wastewater treatment, among other specializations.

Currently, in the region, Sorigué is also involved in the maintenance and improvement of 22 wastewater treatment facilities in the Levante and Guadalentín areas of Murcia. These include Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), Wastewater Pumping Stations (WWPS), and Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants (IWWTP), processing a total of 7,107,120 m³ per year.
