Sorigué contributes to more efficient management of supply networks in La Rioja
The Pladiagua Rioja platform benefits 102 rural municipalities in the autonomous community through the digitalisation of consumption, early leak detection, and the improvement of hydraulic infrastructure.
Sorigué, through its company Lasaosa, is executing the first platform for the digital control, management, and operation of the aqueduct networks in the autonomous community of La Rioja. The project, named Pladiagua Rioja, provides the region with modern infrastructure that improves efficiency, safety, and coordination in the supply of drinking water, particularly in rural areas.
The plan includes works on 132 reservoirs distributed across 102 municipalities and consists of two main lines: the digitalisation and monitoring of the networks, and the execution of improvement works.
Pladiagua Rioja responds to the need to detect leaks or uncontrolled expenditure; to understand demand during peak and off-peak hours; and to facilitate a statistical study of individual and general consumption in each population centre.
Systematisation and control
Designed for municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, the new platform incorporates remote control and monitoring systems that allow reservoirs to be supervised in real time using sensors, 4G/5G communications, and security systems.
To achieve this purpose, Lasaosa relies on Ecotelia , also a Sorigué group company, and an expert in energy services. Its main functions within Pladiagua consist of installing control and communication panels in 143 pumping units, installing and/or expanding 15 self-consumption photovoltaic systems, as well as programming the control systems of the digitalised pumps and the communication of the data obtained.
Improvement of facilities
In addition to the modernisation of the reservoirs, improvement works are being carried out, such as refurbishment, waterproofing, renovation of hydraulic, electrical, and photovoltaic installations, improvement of water treatment, and interior cleaning.
Depending on the diagnosis of each facility, customised measures are applied, such as repairing cracks, leaks, damp, and damaged roofs, or replacing valves, among others.
The interventions also make it possible to verify that each reservoir complies with regulations regarding health protection and facility control.
Because the infrastructures are highly heterogeneous, both in their state of conservation and in their technological equipment, the actions are classified according to the needs of each one, and can range from basic digitalisation tasks to comprehensive refurbishments.
Furthermore, due to the wide geographical dispersion of the municipalities, seven action zones have been defined for more efficient planning.
Lasaosa Sorigué
The execution of Pladiagua Rioja is backed by the experience of Lasaosa, a company specialising in the maintenance of local hydraulic infrastructure and integrated into Sorigué since 2023.
With over 40 years dedicated to the maintenance of drinking water treatment plants, chemical chlorination and disinfection, and wastewater purification, Lasaosa is a benchmark in Aragon, the community where it operates, and it also has a significant presence in La Rioja, Navarre, and some municipalities in Lleida.
