Sorigué is strengthening its regional presence in the province of Huelva, in the far west of Andalusia, through the execution of strategic urban projects in areas such as healthcare, culture, and social care. 

Work on public facilities in the city of Huelva and municipalities such as San Juan del Puerto and Almonaster la Real confirms the company’s commitment to initiatives that bring value to the public. 

Casa Colón in Huelva 

Sorigué is responsible for the comprehensive refurbishment of Huelva’s Casa Colón, part of the city’s heritage and a benchmark cultural space within the ‘Huelva, The British Legacy’ plan. 

This plan highlights the British influence on the province’s architecture and, among its actions, proposes a tourist route through key buildings dating back to the 19th century. 

Within this context, the restoration of the Casa Colón involves adapting exhibition and functional spaces while respecting the building’s heritage value, using criteria of minimal intervention and reversibility. Conservation work is also being carried out on façades, roofs, and structural elements, as well as the modernisation of facilities and improvements in energy efficiency. 

Juan Ramón Jiménez University Hospital 

The Juan Ramón Jiménez University Hospital in the city of Huelva is preparing to open its first Clinical Research Unit (CRU), which will benefit patients requiring priority access to cutting-edge drugs, technologies, and medical devices. 

The Andalusian Beturia Foundation for Health Research (Fabis) has commissioned Sorigué with the comprehensive execution of these facilities, which will be located opposite the hospital’s accident and emergency area. The project consists of the architectural fitting-out of a 960 m² space, ensuring criteria of functionality, safety, energy efficiency, and minimal disruption to hospital activity. 

The new CRU will have two distinct areas: a healthcare area for clinical trials, featuring a reception, consultation rooms, treatment rooms, and blood collection and sample processing facilities; and an administrative and technical area with offices, workspaces, and monitoring and meeting rooms.  

Care home in San Juan del Puerto 

The municipality of San Juan del Puerto in Huelva has already decided on the name for its new public care home for the elderly. It will be called ‘Celestino Gómez y Javier Vélez’, in honour of the original promoters of a similar centre that has since become too small to meet the population’s needs. 

Sorigué is constructing a building to accommodate up to 50 places on a 682 m² plot. The work encompasses the comprehensive execution of the structure, enclosures, finishes, and facilities, employing a modern, functional, and accessible concept. This project not only prioritises architectural quality but is also in line with a long-term care model that places the comfort of the beneficiaries at its core. 

Multi-purpose centre in Almonaster la Real 

Declared one of the “most beautiful villages in Spain”, Almonaster la Real has entrusted Sorigué with the construction of its first multi-purpose centre, a meeting place dedicated to sociocultural activities. 

The intervention includes all building works, facilities, urbanisation, quality control, safety, and environmental management for its opening as a municipal public facility. 

Growth in western Andalusia 

In addition to these ongoing projects, Espacios Urbanos Sur de Sorigué has been carrying out the maintenance of the 64 buildings at the University of Huelva since 2024 and is executing refurbishment works in the Huelva health centres attached to the Andalusian Health Service, under a Framework Agreement in force since 2025. 

In recent years, other areas of the company have also spearheaded major projects, such as the maintenance of distribution and sewerage networks for the Municipal Water Company of Huelva and the restoration of the Santa Eulalia Siphon Bridge. 

These projects have allowed Sorigué to strengthen bonds of trust with local institutions and open the door to a lasting relationship that results in better facilities and services for the public.
