The business group started work in July on the construction of an aircraft painting hangar. At the end of August, it will begin the construction of a double hangar for the maintenance of two Airbus A380s. The total of both bids equals 24 million euros.

The Sorigué business group begins construction work on two hangars at Teruel airport this summer.

The construction of the first hangar began in July. The work, which has been awarded to the group company Acsa, Obras e Infraestructuras for a bid amount of 4.8 million euros, involves the construction of a hangar for painting aircraft and two adjoining buildings for storage and offices.

The total construction area will cover 5,708 m2 and it is planned to allow painting work to be carried out on one Airbus A350/900, or two A321s at the same time. The forecast execution period is 10 months.

The construction of this hangar for painting will open a new line of business for Teruel airport, and it is predicted to create 60 new jobs through the hiring of new specialists.

Meanwhile, at the end of August the construction of a double maintenance hangar will begin with a capacity for two A380s, the world’s biggest passenger plane. The work has been awarded to Acsa Obras e Infraestructuras in a temporary joint venture with the company Construcciones Mariano López Navarro for a bid total of 19,998,747 euros and an execution period of 20 months.

This construction also includes an adjoining area for offices and a logistics area. The project includes the paving of access routes, the parking area and a building for installations.

The constructed areas will include: a bay spanning 16,000 m2; 4,200 m2 of workshops; 700 m2 of storage; 1,050 m2 of machine rooms; 2,400 m2 of offices and 400 m2 of changing rooms.
