Sorigué adds six electric vehicles to its fleet — the first of their kind to come to Spain

July 18, 2019

The business group has chosen Volkswagen's new fully electric e-Crafter to expand the fleet of vehicles for its urban services contracts in the province of Barcelona.

The Sorigué business group received the six 100% electric e-Crafter vans from Volkswagen, the first of their kind delivered to Spain, at an event held in one of its work centres located in the Zona Franca industrial area of Barcelona. These six zero-emission units now join the fleet of urban services vehicles in the province of Barcelona.

The event was attended by Manuel Vélez, Director General of the Technology and Services divisions of Sorigué; Francesc Faus, Manager of Ambitec; Francisco Ullod, Manager of Constraula; Borja Barenys, Sales Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles; Dana Cortada, General Manager of Volkswagen Group Retail; and Luis Subías, Manager of Volkswagen Barcelona, among other representatives.  Ambitec, specialising in landscaping and the environment, and Constraula, dedicated to urban services, are the Sorigué companies who are adding the zero-emission vehicles to their fleet.

“Purchasing these vehicles responds to our commitment as a business group to environmental sustainability. At Sorigué, we work to make our urban services grow sustainably and to add value to the contracted services we perform,” remarked Manuel Vélez, Director General of the Technology and Services divisions of the Group, which is comprised of Asca, Obras e Infraestructuras and the companies Ambitec and Constraula.

The new e-Crafter van from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offers emission-free driving and a range of 170 kilometres. The engine is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack mounted under the floor of the charging space, which combines with a fast-charging CCS system to recharge the battery to 80% in just 45 minutes.

In addition, it features significant economic advantages both in terms of reduced maintenance costs and exemptions on certain toll roads, parking in specific zones or free driving during increased air pollution events and traffic restriction in large cities.

In this way, Sorigué maintains its commitment to sustainable transport. Over the past few years, the company has added a significant number of electric vehicles to its diverse fleet, especially for its urban services contracts.
