The 6th National Symposium on Best Practices in Public Procurement holds its new edition in Barcelona

March 4, 2025

The conference programme brings together leading voices from Public Administration to analyse and discuss improvements in the public works procurement system.

The 6th National Symposium on Best Practices in Public Procurement will hold its next edition on 3 April at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, to promote the dissemination of best practices among the various stakeholders involved in procurement processes.

This forum, established as a benchmark event at the national level, fosters the exchange of experiences and knowledge on tenders, regulations, drafting of specifications, and other key sector issues, contributing to the improvement of administrative procedures.

The conference programme for this edition features prominent voices from Public Administration, including José Antonio Santano, Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility; Pilar Díaz, Delegate of the Generalitat Government in Barcelona; Mariano Garrote, Director of Procurement and Contracting at ADIF; and Ricard Font, Director of Barcelona Municipal Infrastructure (BIMSA), among other distinguished speakers.

The event, which in previous editions has been held in cities such as Seville, Málaga, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, and Valencia, will once again bring together engineers, architects, builders, public administration technicians, legal experts, auditors, and construction specialists for a day to present, analyse, and discuss improvements to the current public procurement system.

This edition is organized by CÍES, CCOC, ITeC, Catenara, the College of Civil Engineers, Canals, and Ports of Catalonia, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, with support from Copisa, Copcisa, Comsa, Calaf, and Sorigué.

As a new feature of this edition, the symposium recognizes outstanding initiatives for their quality, efficiency, and commitment to transparency with the 1st Best Practices in Public Procurement Awards in three categories: General State Administration, Autonomous Community, and Local Administration.

These annual awards, presented during the Symposium, recognize practices adopted by public administrations and other contracting authorities that significantly improve aspects of the planning, preparation, awarding, or execution of public sector contracts, particularly those aimed at promoting the procurement of high-quality goods and services or simplifying and refining procurement procedures.
