Renovation of sports facilities in the city of Madrid
Residents of the Barajas and Ciudad Lineal districts in Madrid are enjoying better sports facilities, which are now much more modern and equipped to host professional competitions.
These improvements are part of the Framework Agreement that Sorigué is carrying out for Madrid City Council, which includes renovation, repair and maintenance works for municipal sports centres and basic municipal sports facilities (IDB).
In the Barajas district, Sorigué has built a new 7-a-side football pitch and completely renovated the Bike Park BMX track. Meanwhile, in the Ciudad Lineal district, a new roof has been installed for the futsal court, allowing it to be used all year round.
All these interventions enhance the city’s public sports offering with high-quality asphalt and materials, sustainable lighting systems and the technical specifications required for each facility.
Sorigué has completely revitalised three Basic Municipal Sports Facilities (IDB) in the city of Madrid: El Capricho I and Bike Park BMX in the Barajas district, and Pueblo Nuevo Ascao in Ciudad Lineal.
El Capricho I
After a wait of many years, the Alameda de Osuna football club finally has a pitch featuring artificial turf on an asphalt base, irrigation and drainage networks, and paved sides.
The institution, renowned for its training academies, also benefits from a new artificial turf training area next to the changing rooms, making for a total intervention of 2,400 m² of usable surface area.
Thus, the new facility meets the needs of athletes and fans alike, and is poised to make a leap in the quality of its sports offering.
Bike Park BMX
The IDB Bike Park BMX has unveiled a much more modern, fluid and technical track, placing it at the forefront of extreme cycling sports. In fact, the facility is gearing up to host the first Municipal Pumptrack Sports School in the city of Madrid.
The old tracks have been replaced by three routes that occupy 25% more surface area and cater to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced riders.
In addition to high-quality asphalt, the track features a renewed drainage network, as well as painted slopes and traffic islands.
The intervention has created several Dirt Track zones for different cycling disciplines and two Wallrides for stunt experts.
Pueblo Nuevo-Ascao
The futsal court at the IDB Pueblo Nuevo-Ascao can now be used at any time of year, regardless of the weather conditions, thanks to the roof installed by Sorigué.
The framework covers the entire court without any intermediate pillars interfering with sports activities. The sheet metal panels guarantee protection against inclement weather, and the perforated metal sheets on the vertical sections allow for natural light and ventilation.
The biggest challenge of this operation was the special night-time logistics for transporting and assembling the large steel pieces, which occupy a space of 49 x 27 metres and weigh 82,000 kg.
The works were carried out in three phases:
- Workshop prefabrication. Manufacturing 90% of the structure required detailed planning and precise assembly coordination.
- Special transport. The pieces were transported by road and urban routes with the corresponding specific permits.
- On-site assembly and lifting. The structure was assembled and lifted in successive phases, guaranteeing its stability and the safety of the teams involved.
