Sorigué provides assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Lleida

March 28, 2022

In response to the serious humanitarian crisis, Sorigué has made itself available to its Ukrainian employees whose relatives were being affected in order to offer them shelter and support. The company has set up temporary accommodation to host relatives of its Ukrainian employees at its facilities in Sant Jordi de Mollé, Balaguer, Lleida.

Sorigué has arranged accommodation at its facilities located in the town of Sant Jordi de Mollé, Balaguer, Lleida, to receive Ukrainian families fleeing the war in their country. To date, five family units have been hosted, mainly made up of women and children aged 2 to 14; most of them are also relatives and people close to Sorigué’s Ukrainian employees.

The business group employs several professionals from Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, the company has made itself available to these professionals and has organized this unprecedented reception together with a collection campaign for materials.

The company manages the stay and support of these families in coordination with the Balaguer City Council, the Noguera Regional Council, and the Association of Ukrainians in Lleida. In addition, it has set up 5 homes with the capacity to accommodate 25 people on this estate where Sorigué owns and operates agricultural plantations, in order to be able to host more families if necessary.

Solidarity collection campaign

At the same time, during March, Sorigué organized a campaign to collect medical supplies and essential goods. These supplies have already been sent to Ukraine through Ukrainian associations in Barcelona and Lleida.

In addition, from some branches such as those in Madrid and Lleida, the purchase of food, hygiene products, and essential goods has been promoted, which have been sent to the families hosted in Sant Jordi de Mollé.

“Although these actions have arisen spontaneously as a result of the terrible war taking place in Ukraine, this initiative is part of our vocation and social commitment. We have activated different lines of support and our human team has been an example of solidarity,” says Ana Vallés, President of Sorigué, who expresses her gratitude for the solidarity shown by the company’s workforce.
