The Juan XXIII Foundation and Sorigué promote the socio-occupational inclusion of people in situations of psychosocial vulnerability

July 20, 2023

Thanks to this agreement, the Foundation has become a social provider for Sorigué, which will incorporate activities aimed at the social and occupational integration of people with disabilities into its annual volunteer plan. Previously, the two entities collaborated through the Foundation’s Green Solutions service.

Sorigué and the Juan XXIII Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement making the Foundation a new social provider of the company. Thanks to this, Sorigué will be able to benefit from all the services offered by the Foundation’s Special Employment Centre in the different employment sectors.

The aim of this agreement is to promote the full social and occupational integration of people with disabilities in the labour market by carrying out activities related to vocational training and labour integration. In addition, Sorigué will develop inclusive corporate volunteering activities as part of its annual plan to raise awareness of integration among its staff.

The signing ceremony took place on Friday 14 July at the Foundation’s headquarters. The agreement was signed between Alicia Piñar, head of ESG and secretary of the Board of Trustees, and José Lores, director of Sorigué Water and City for the Central Region. Also during the event, and as a continuation of the Solidarity Race for inclusion organised by Sorigué, the Boccia sports tournament took place in which users of the Juan XXIII Foundation Leisure and Sports Club and Sorigué employees competed together with the aim of promoting health, inclusive and sustainable sport.

In the words of Alicia Piñar, “social and labour inclusion cannot be achieved in isolation, it requires collaboration and collective effort. It is great news that Sorigué shares our mission and we will continue to work together for inclusion.”

Miriam Porres, director of CSR at Sorigué emphasised that “at Sorigué we are committed to moving towards a better society, which is why creating alliances and a social supply chain is a strategic priority. That is why we are highlighting this commitment through social and volunteering actions that promote and give visibility to equality and diversity among our staff and stakeholders.”
For Eloi Baró, director of Administration and Labour Relations at Sorigué, “the formalisation of collaboration agreements with entities that promote full integration at both the social and occupational level consolidates our commitment to disability and reaffirms it as a real generator of opportunities.”

In the opinion of Esther Imedio, manager of ESG Alliances and Impact Management at the Juan XXIII Foundation, “by signing this agreement we want to strengthen the commitment between the Sorigué Group and the Juan XXIII Foundation. A commitment that translates into actions aimed at improving the lives of the most vulnerable people and that, with these alliances, we demonstrate that, by joining forces, we can achieve great objectives that have a positive impact on society, transforming it into a fairer, more sustainable and inclusive world.”

Joint experience
This is not the first time that the Juan XXIII Foundation and Sorigué have collaborated together. Through the Foundation’s Green Solutions programme, a total of 346 hours were dedicated, 239 of them by people with intellectual disabilities, to the refurbishment of the 600 m² of garden at the Sorigué work centre in the Vicálvaro district of Madrid.
