The Sorigué business group, and its waste management company, CLD Corporation, were awarded the “Etiqueta Responsable” emblem, recognizing organizations that are committed to management based on economic, social and environmental values.
This recognition, developed by the +Responsables association with the support of Ingeniería Social (Social Engineering), was awarded during the opening ceremonies of the 8th Social Responsibility Week in Catalonia, held from Monday November 14th until Saturday November 18th in Barcelona. Manuel Vélez, CEO of Sorigué, and Xavier del Río, director of the CLD Corporation, each received the award on behalf of his own company.
More than 30 companies and organizations were awarded this emblem in an ceremony that was attended by Àngels Cuadrada, Deputy Director of Labor Relations for the Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families of the Community Government of Catalonia; Alvaro Porro, Commissioner of Social Economy and Local Development of the Barcelona City Council; Enric Herranz, director of Training Services of the Barcelona Provincial Council; Mar Simón, deputy director of Social Programs for the “La Caixa” Foundation; and Elena López, chair of the +Responsables association and director of Ingeniería Social.
During the opening session, Sorigué also participated in the conference on good practices in large companies and SMEs, in which each participating organization presented several success stories and novel initiatives.
The head of Corporate Social Responsibility for Sorigué, Miriam Porres, spoke on the role of her group as an agent of change within the company and within the framework of implementation of its strategic plan.
On Friday the 17th, Sorigué also participated in the “open door” sessions of Social Responsibility Week, including a discussion of the social projects that it is carrying out jointly with the Exit Foundation and the Telefónica Foundation.
