Lleida, 12 August 2025 – On Tuesday 12 August, Julio Sorigué, founder of the Sorigué Group, passed away at the age of 92. His funeral will take place this Thursday 14 August, at 11:00 am at the New Cathedral of Lleida.
Born in 1933 in Cervera, Julio Sorigué was a pioneer in the construction sector from a very young age. In 1968 he founded Sorigué S.A.U. in Lleida, with a clear commitment to developing the province of Lleida and making a positive impact on the local territory. Through hard work and vision, he transformed the company into a benchmark in construction.
Beyond his outstanding business achievements, Julio Sorigué’s life was marked by a profound commitment to social causes. Together with his wife, Josefina Blasco, he established the Fundació Sorigué in 1985, which houses one of Spain’s most important art collections and has been a cornerstone of social, educational, and cultural projects in Lleida. “The passing of Julio Sorigué is a moment of profound sorrow, not only on a personal level but also due to the loss of a great businessman whom, like so many others, I deeply admired,” said Ana Vallés, Julio Sorigué’s niece and president of the group. “His professional journey serves as a reference for our group, and his legacy will endure in our company through the commitment of our entire team to carry forward the mission he began. We will continue working with the same dedication and passion that he inspired in us, ensuring that Sorigué remains a benchmark for leadership and commitment.”
