Refurbishment of Two Parking Areas in Montseny Natural Park, Barcelona

The Natural Spaces Services Management of the Barcelona Provincial Council (GSEN) aims to promote sustainable tourism and controlled mobility in Montseny Natural Park. Among the planned measures is the improvement of vehicle parking facilities.

The two project areas are 100 m apart: the Can Casadas area is located at the roadside, while the Santa Fe area is situated within the Natural Park. 

The works have enhanced safety and facilitated access for service vehicles and public transport in both zones:

- Repaving of the central section with a modified bituminous mix resistant to temperature fluctuations.
- Application of a Firflex aggregate texture finish.
- Installation of elements to improve safety and traffic flow.
- Specific signage and markings.

Road separation markings are also executed using preformed Firflex. This wearing course system consists of high-resistance preformed pieces that provide the appearance of prefabricated pavement. 
Work Areas:

1. Can Casadas entrance: waste container area
2. Bus stop
3. Limited-time parking spaces
4. Parking for park service and emergency vehicles
5. Reduced mobility (accessible) parking spaces
6. Renovation of the path and connection to the adapted trail

Finally, a staircase was constructed to connect the Santa Fe parking area with the park’s trail circuit.
