Sorigué hosts an academic delegation at the La Plana del Corb industrial complex
The group of specialists is participating in the first edition of CONSOWA, an international conference focused on soil and water conservation under a sustainable paradigm.
On Wednesday the 14th, a team of Sorigué professionals welcomed a scientific delegation at the La Plana del Corb industrial complex (Balaguer, Lleida). The delegation is taking part in CONSOWA, the first global conference dedicated to soil and water conservation.
During the visit, the full production and restoration processes carried out at the facilities were presented. Sorigué’s experts outlined, among other aspects, the extraction of aggregates, the production of asphalt and precast concrete, and the research and development of new products conducted at the Research Laboratory. The visit also included presentations on olive cultivation and oil production activities, as well as the PLANTA project.
The organisations responsible for this international congress showed particular interest in Sorigué’s business model at La Plana del Corb, especially due to its capacity for restoration following resource extraction activities.
This visit forms part of a series of technical field trips organised for academics attending the conference, the first of its kind worldwide.
The event is being held in the city of Lleida from June 12 to 16 and is organised by the University of Lleida with the support of nine institutions, including the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC), the European Society for Soil Conservation, and the International Erosion Control Association (IECA), among others.
The objectives of this international gathering are to analyse the present and future of soil conservation and water resources at a global level in the context of climate change, and to promote collaboration within the international scientific community.
