Sorigué attends the inauguration of the Mediterranean Ring Olympic pool

June 20, 2018

The structure, built by Sorigué, will host the competitions for the 18th Mediterranean Games, which will take place in Tarragona from 22 June to 1 July 2018.

The opening ceremony for the pool, which will host the swimming and water polo competitions for the Mediterranean Games, was presided over by the minister of Territorial Policy and Civil Service, Meritxell Batet, accompanied by the mayor of Tarragona, Josep Fèlix Ballesteros.

Jesús Gracia, a delegate from Civil Works for Catalonia, and Joan Tous, the head of the group in charge of the project, attended the event on behalf of Sorigué. The 50-meter outdoor pool is the first of this kind in the city.

The structure forms part of the Parque de la Anilla Mediterránea [The Mediterranean Ring Park], which Tarragona has built for the Mediterranean Games. Once the competition has ended, the pool will be open for municipal use.

The pool forms part of the Campclar Sports Center. The poolside area includes a moveable bridge, custom installations and basic land development. The project also includes the construction of some built-in grandstands with a capacity of almost 800 people.
