Andorra Sud WWTP

Located in the lowest point of the country, on the River Runer border, it collects wastewater from the parishes of Encamp (Eastern slopes), Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra la Vella and Sant Julià de Lòria. Opened in 2004, it has a daily treatment capacity of 30,000 cubic metres, and is the largest plant in Andorra.

It was designed to take into account future growth, with a treatment capacity for 100,000 inhabitants. Equipped with the very latest remote control and management technology, it is an activated sludge biological treatment plant that eliminates nitrogen and phosphorous biologically.

Sludge dewatering is carried out using mechanical thickening, followed by centrifuges, and, finally, heat-drying to 80% dryness.
