Sorigué holds its first workers’ solidarity day

October 30, 2017

In connection with this event, a challenge was issued to support the Blood and Tissue Bank with donations. The business group invited its workers to familiarize themselves with the facilities of the La Plana del Corb industrial complex and the PLANTA project.

More than 1200 persons attended the event to held on Saturday, 28 October at the Plana del Corb industrial complex (Balaguer, Lleida), including Sorigué’s workers and their families, who participated in the first solidarity day for all the companies and offices in the group. Throughout the day, attendees were urged to donate blood to the Health Department’s Blood and Tissue Bank.

Plana del Corb is the emblem of the business group’s origins, and a point of reference and convergence for Sorigué. This open day was an opportunity for the company’s entire workforce to be officially introduced to PLANTA, the project that is currently the driving force behind Sorigué and its foundation, a place established in the company’s industrial space where contemporary artistic creation and business innovation converge.

The open day was attended by workers and their families from the Lleida, Barcelona, Tarragona, Zaragoza, Huesca, and Madrid sites.

As part of the event, workers and their families were able to experience the Double Blind art space, the recently inaugurated monumental sculptural installation by Juan Muñoz that marks the official opening of PLANTA to the general public, as well as the Kiefer Pavilion art spaces, which host three monumental pieces by the artist Alsem Kiefer and the sculptures “Carmen dormida” and “Carmen despierta” by Antonio López.

In addition, attendees were able to visit the Minerology Museum and the group’s Research Laboratory, both located in the complex. The company also provided the opportunity to observe several of the company’s production processes in visits to the aggregate extraction area, the ring segment production facility, a machinery exhibit, the oil mill, the cereal dryer, and the olive groves.
